As promised, here is the conversation extract between shameless S and clueless E. Our dear PeanutRice was kind enough to “civilise” the conversation. But allow me, to present to you the conversation in its raw glory.

The pictures are read left to right.

Note: ** Shameless S has a nasty gay encounter at the public pool that resulted in the loss of his swimming trunks.

Special thanks to sweet Mary for helping me clean the speech bubbles 🙂

clueless E: this conversation was NOT carried out in bed. it was carried out over g-chat in Woodlands and Jurong. and who the heck is Mary? See! there are girls being name-dropped on my blog and i don’t even know!

I want to be a Landscape Architect February 28, 2009

I never knew I was that multi-talented – most of us have a lot of problems explaining what we really do. the common response is ‘Oh so you decide where to put trees?’

I have come to realise that the landscape has become such a natural extension of everyone’s life that they don’t even notice its presence or their relationship with the land. It is unlike buildings where you are conscious you are in it. You are always in the landscape; hence it is harder to understand how a design can influence one’s relationship to the land.

Landscape architecture combines environment and design, art and science.  It is about everything outside the front door, both urban and rural, at the interface between people and natural systems. The range of ways in which landscape architects work is staggering. From masterplanning Olympic sites to planning and managing landscapes like national parks and areas of outstanding natural beauty to designing the public squares and parks that we all use, landscape architecture nurtures communities and makes their environment human and liveable.

Landscape architects are broad thinkers who thrive on the big picture.  They are playing an increasingly important role in addressing the great issues of our day: climate change, sustainable communities, water, housing and the prevention of hunger.

Landscape architects are often natural leaders, able to communicate with many professions and leading multidisciplinary projects. Landscape architecture is not just the profession of the future – but the profession for a better future.

I think this is one of the best descriptions of a landscape architect in a long time.

ss and i had this totally random conversation.

::

E: you can be a greek god to whichever girl – but to me you will always be the normal guy who ate 4 sandwiches in the lecture theatre in college.

S: ….. fine….. i can deal with one girl who thinks i am a china-man so long as all the other girls think otherwise.

::

the rest of the conversation will come to you in graphic format.

i feel like i am a perspective churner. i have been doing nothing but 3-4 perspectives per night for the last week and seriously, when is this going to end!

clearly i am hitting a rough patch at work. not enough sleep. too many deadlines. and an intense desire for a very long holiday.

anyhow, ray’s wedding is this weekend! kimhock and gang is coming down from malaysia so its heaps exciting! i can’t wait!

i honestly have had it with people not taking my word seriously and having to re-verify it with someone else more ‘senior’  IN MY PRESENCE. it is as if people are trying to test the credibility of my word. is it questionable?

i am not dumb. and i don’t make stupid comments that warrants a skeptical -raise your eyebrow- look. if consultants defer to someone more ‘senior’  who said the EXACT same thing i said, i don’t see why when i make the same comment earlier, people chuckle. i am not telling a joke and i certainly am not intending to make people laugh. i think its plain rude when people chuckle at my comments but agree TOTALLY with someone more senior when the same comment is being passed later.

just because i look 16 does not mean i am stupid. nor does it mean i have no idea what is going on in a project.

society may seem so progressive but at the end of the day, people are still bounded by primitive prejudices that reveal the only thing that progressed is their paycheck and standard of living but not the mindset.

because once again i realised that Monotones Of Grey is being used as a tool to slander me and make references to my life that are inaccurate, none other than by people who don’t know me at all, i am locking it again and I won’t be un-locking it ever.

to my stalker, i hope you find greater purpose in life.

i haven’t been to church for a long time. nevertheless, i am reminded at every turn i make that God is still the greatest. and i count my blessings for each day I get. i hope someday, I will find my way back to church again.

The splendor of the King, clothed in majesty
Let all the earth rejoice
All the earth rejoice

He wraps himself in Light, and darkness tries to hide
And trembles at His voice
Trembles at His voice

How great is our God, sing with me
How great is our God, and all will see
How great, how great is our God

Age to age He stands
And time is in His hands
Beginning and the end
Beginning and the end

The Godhead Three in One
Father Spirit Son
The Lion and the Lamb
The Lion and the Lamb

How great is our God, sing with me
How great is our God, and all will see
How great, how great is our God

Name above all names
Worthy of all praise
My heart will sing
How great is our God

Name above all names
Worthy of all praise
My heart will sing
How great is our God

How great is our God, sing with me
How great is our God, and all will see
How great, how great is our God

Scent of a woman February 20, 2009

Inspired by Ms WalnutsFriedRice I feel compelled to contribute a post on perfumes. I for one, find women who wear perfume particularly alluring. It simply just adds a certain air of elegance. Especially those who place great care in the selection of their fragrances.

I for one will look at a woman twice upon catching the lingering traces of her perfume. Such occurrences, I assure you, are not common. But i do believe in the role scent plays in attraction. The subtleties that arises in your mind.

Although I have told no one but I am particularly fond of a few select perfume. Should the ladies suddenly find themselves the unwillingly subject of my unfaltering attention, fear not. It’s a compliment to your tasteful choice in perfumes =)

(P.S. Those who have yet to see Al Pacino in Scent of a woman, it’s an old classic worth digging to find.)

the importance of being rich February 17, 2009

this week, i awarded the following title to someone I work with:

<Most inflated sense of self-importance>

i wish the person knew that money does not make the world go round. Intelligence can and will make the money work  – but clearly money can never buy some of the most important things in life – quality of character and common sense.

[I wonder which is worse: Not being able to buy quality of character and common sense with my money or with my parents’ money. If money is that all powerful, isn’t it more exasperating knowing that even with money that is given without having to work for it, you still cannot make it work for you?]

in fact, i am quite comforted in knowing that money cannot buy smartness; and God made money and intelligence independent of each other. it is quite amusing to sit by and watch someone inflate their ego way beyond acceptable limits and assume that because of wealth the world will march in step with them and everyone will simply fall at their feet. honestly that is crap.

i am so glad i was born with a wooden spoon in my mouth. not a silver or gold one. its okay. i can live with little money.

I definitely cannot live knowing or have people thinking  i am dumb.

because at some point, i will have to deceive myself into believing i am smart as it will be one quality i will never possess but wish i did.

one of the best things blog shops do for mere mortals with limited pockets are taking inspiration from high end chain stores and making pieces that are affordable and classic.

i was contemplating this asos dress but couldn’t buy it as it was too expensive

now that Little Red Heels has a version that cost only $30, i didn’t hesitate.

it is not often that i find something classic like this on blog shops but i must say they are getting better.

helped my mum make posters for her fruit store. it was fun 😉 though she would complain why i had to make 2 posters instead of compressing everything into one. then again, if she complained then i would say – if you want all the information to be presented in straight line, you can ask my brother to do it 😉
