1 There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:

2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,

3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,

4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,

5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,

6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,

7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,

8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

As i go through different phrases of my life, experience different emotions, I am reminded that there is a reason for everything to happen at that particular moment in time. I never did question the way God worked; I only believe it is for good reason that something happens to me. It is a lesson to learn.

If I could pick out two things from the list I have yet to learn, it is knowing when to speak and when to give up. I think both require  a great deal of grace and strength. I hope it comes with age – then I still have time and space to improve. i find it harder to know when to give up, or when to choose the battle to fight. How do people give up what was once theirs? Or perhaps, come to realise that what was thought to be theirs, was in fact never theirs? If there was a way for me to learn this instantly, I would.

tonight is a better night. a little at peace with myself. a little more joy.
